Skater Support

 
Skaters who are accepted into the Ice Bridges Program are eligible to receive direct funding and/or assistance in securing sponsors to cover essential competitive figure skating-related costs. Requests for support are reviewed on a rolling basis, and skaters are encouraged to apply at any time throughout the year.

Who Qualifies?
Qualifying skaters must meet the following requirements:

  • Live in the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area, including Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano and Sonoma counties.
  • Be 17 years of age or younger.
  • Face financial hardship.
  • Demonstrate talent and dedication to the sport of figure skating as determined by independent coach-advisors.
  • Maintain a school grade point average of 2.5 or higher.
  • Are current members in good standing of United States Figure Skating (USFS) and an affiliated local club based in the nine-county San Francisco Bay Area.
  • Refrain from using or attempting to use any steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs.

Funding Process
We complete a thorough evaluation based on talent, commitment and need to determine which skaters to invite into the Ice Bridges Program. All skaters who submit applications are notified whether they have been accepted to join the program.
